Linear ordering preferences in Japanese: Implications for current production models
نویسنده
چکیده
The current research investigates the claim that sort-before-long (SL) constituent orderings are easier to produce than long-beforeshort (LS) orderings (e.g., Stallings et al., 1998). 12 Japanese native speakers repeated LS and SL ordered simple transitive and double object sentences. In a control condition, participants repeated sentences directly, and in another participants performed a memory task before repeating target sentences. In the memory task condition, processing resources are taxed and therefore more errors are predicted for harder to produce orderings. Results show that SL orderings for all constructions had significantly more errors in the memory task condition as compared to the control. Errors for LS ordered constructions in the memory task and control condition were not significantly different except S-DO-V ordered simple transitive constructions. The findings suggest that SL orderings are generally harder to produce than LS orderings in Japanese and go against previous claims. Implications are discussed for both accessibility (e.g., Stallings et al. 1998) and functionally based (e.g., Hawkins, 1994) models of linear ordering.

متن کاملA New Clustering Technic by the Preferences of the Objective in Data Envelopment Analysis
The ways of placing decision making units (DMUs) in certain clusters are found as a subject in statistics, these ways usually are heuristic. The proposed clustering approach in this article considers preferences of DMUs. This study applies Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) DMUs are clustered by solving multi-objective linear problem (MOLP) and by considering preferences of each DMU at production ...
متن کاملA revisit of a mathematical model for solving fully fuzzy linear programming problem with trapezoidal fuzzy numbers
In this paper fully fuzzy linear programming (FFLP) problem with both equality and inequality constraints is considered where all the parameters and decision variables are represented by non-negative trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. According to the current approach, the FFLP problem with equality constraints first is converted into a multi–objective linear programming (MOLP) problem with crisp const...

The present studyinvestigated the impact of selection for body weight (BW) on productive performance, predicted BW and genetic improvement of related traits in Japanese quail. Base population, selected parent and F1 progeny were tested. Pens and cages were used for rearing and breeding. A total of 240 birds in two successive generations, 27 sires and 54 dams (as selected parents) were used. Bod...

The present study was conducted to determine egg production traits and egg quality characteristics in black and brown lines of Japanese quail. A total of 500 quails comprising 400 females and 100 males obtained from two breeding centers were raised according to the standard procedure for Japanese quail. They were grouped in according to their plumage colours. Age at first egg-laying has been re...
